Keow Essig, the administrative assistant, has a Master’s degree in Biology from University of North Carolina Greensboro and has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Dickinson College. In the beginning of her career, she researched Lupus at Medical University of South Carolina and she also researched learning and memory in mouse brains at Brandeis University. In addition, she taught school groups at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH and at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Norfolk, VA. When she first moved to the area, she taught BIO 102 at Northern Virginia Community College for 2 years. She has also developed and taught the preschool sciences classes “Science, My Body” and “Kitchen Chemistry” at Oak Marr RECenter. Currently, she volunteers at Olde Creek ES running their Bike to School Day event since 2013 and has been coaching youth soccer since 2012. She is the mother of 3 wonderful boys, ages 9-13.
