Learning Through Play for 70 Years

5 Reasons to Attend Annandale Cooperative Preschool

Just a few short months ago, we were making a big fuss over starting a new preschool, and now the school year has already come to an end! That old saying time flies when you’re having fun is so true. Not only did my child have fun, he also learned a lot of things such as when is culture day at school 2022, and grew more than I could have ever hoped for this last year. Since he is new to Annandale Cooperative Preschool (ACPS) and I thought his last preschool was good, I would like to highlight the top five things that set ACPS apart from the other preschools in the area.

  1. Faculty and staff – My child instantaneously fell head over heels for his teacher and why not, she is simply amazing. She brings out the best of each of the kids and adapts her lesson plans to the development of the class. Not only is she well connected with the children but also takes time to keep parents informed and answer questions that may arise.
In the brief interactions I’ve seen with the other teachers, it is evident that each teacher genuinely enjoys their classes; leadership takes the time to know all the kids and goes beyond expectations to know siblings and family members regularly involved in the school.
  2. Family involvement – obviously, cooperative is in the name but it is so much more than that. From being the extra hands in the classroom to field trip chaperones, there are many opportunities for the parents to be as involved and engaged as one is able in a variety of ways that fits your talents and interests.
  3. Creative resources- learning through play, discovery through doing, exploring through creativity and finding new uses for common household items to foster and grow imagination. Who knew there were so many uses for a cardboard roll ranging from star gazers for constellations to making horses and binoculars?
  4. Diverse learning in a safe environment- The classrooms are neat, clean and well organized. The school is well kept and managed. There are not piles of stuff covered by blankets to keep kids out. There is a wide range of toys and activities setup to allow independent exploration and learning with character and charm that entices young minds to grow. Through open movement classes, music, field trips, special visits from community heroes, variety of learning environments from pond life to cityscapes, school activities ranging from 5k runs to bowling to extended day opportunities my child has flourished.
  5. Inclusive school community- they say it takes a village, Annandale Cooperative Preschool is a close knit and inclusive environment. The cooperative experience has been a welcomed change in learning environments that span beyond just seeing familiar faces during pickup and drop off, to a family of families.

I hope you will enjoy watching your child grow as I have at ACPS. If you are considering a cooperative environment for your child, I hope you will consider becoming part of the Annandale Cooperative Preschool family.
