Committee Sign-Ups 2018-2019

In accordance with the Primer, parents are required to participate in the administrative and maintenance tasks of the school. Each family must volunteer for one committee position and one work party. Below you will find the current assignments based on the families that have indicated their preference.

The positions will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If interested, please sign up for any optional/secondary positions listed near the bottom that you would like.

*Co-Presidents - Board Position The primary duty of the President is to lead, organize, and direct the administrative affairs of the Association; to preside at the membership & monthly Board meetings; to evaluate and recommend revision, if necessary, of the regs and operating procs.#1: Richard Pripeton

*Internal Review Spends several hours with the bookkeeper to review financial accounts, and then prepares a brief statement to note that the review was performed (in July 2017). *knowledge of financial statements required#1: Sarah Bradley
Babysitting Coordinator Books child care during the Classroom Orientation night and the 3 General Membership Meetings. (So, it is 4 evenings per year.) This coordinator schedules one adult supervisor (CPR and first aid certified) and 2 young adults to do the babysitting.#1: Amy Gardner DeGood
T-Shirt/Tote Coordinator Handles the sale and processing of orders of ACPS merchandise. Orders more t-shirts and totes as needed, and makes them available periodically throughout the school year to families at events and at school.#1: Daniel Klaus

*Treasurers - Board Position The Treasurer is responsible for all financial matters related to tuition and fee collection, payments, insurance, budget formation, and auditing.#1: Rex Miller

*Student Programs Co-Directors - Board Position The Director of Student Programs is responsible for all organization of and provision for special resources for students, including field trips, library & record facilities, classroom program resources (science projects, music, etc.), & field day pgms.#1: Jackie Kilkeary

Scholastic Books Coordinator Prepares and distributes the Scholastic Books flyers, collects orders from members, and places the order with Scholastic Books. Upon arrival of the books, coordinates individual orders and distributes them to the appropriate families.#1: Melissa Kuhn
*Membership Co-Directors - Board Position The Director of Membership is responsible for coordinating all Membership recruitment activities, as well as establishing and maintaining all school enrollment and membership information files. *Requires a 2 year commitment#1: Tara Soligan

*Membership Database and Director Works with membership directors to make a directory of all ACPS families and teachers to be distributed to the general membership at the beginning of the school year, then update it as needed.#1: Wendy Pan
*Tour Coordinator The tour coordinator, with the assistance of the Membership Director, establishes a pool of volunteer tour guides, responds to tour requests, and sets up tours for prospective families.#1: Laura Bowles
*Materials & Grounds Co-Directors - Board Position The Director of Materials and Grounds is responsible for the physical maintenance of the school.#1: Stefan Roth

*Health, Safety, and Transportation Co-Directors - Board Position The Director of Health, Safety and Transportation is responsible for overseeing all matters related to the safe operation of the school.#1: Michele Alexander

*First Aid Inspector Checks all first aid kits in the school monthly and replaces missing/outdated items.#1: Kimberly Howard

*Hospitality - Board Position The Director of Hospitality is responsible for organizing and administering activities of a social nature related to the Association and its members; the primary emphasis is on family-oriented events.#1: Sylvia Morgan

Hospitality Coordinators Someone who works with the hospitality committee to provide food/beverages for events throughout the year, as well as set up and clean up at school picnics (usually 2 a year).#1: Kacey Hall

*Communications Co-Directors - Board Position Responsible for organizing & overseeing all communication functions related to the operation of the Association. This includes the blog, updating of the Parents‘ Primer, the web site, & forums. Technology background is a plus.#1: Terri Ballard

Library/Display Coordinator Manages display of students' artwork in area public libraries. Communicates with libraries to set dates, work with teachers to collect artwork, set up/tear down displays, returns artwork to teachers. *Classroom Participation Schedular Prepares the monthly classroom and school aide schedules for all classes. Distributes the schedules to all co-op families and teachers.#1: Rawan Jabr
Paid School Aide Coordinator Responsible for helping to recruit paid school aides and maintaining the paid school aide email list. The coordinator will track all requests and serve as the channel between paid school aides and the parents that request their services.#1: Diane Waldman
Parent Social Coordinator Responsible for planning bimonthly Parents-Helping-Parents talks during the school day and 4 optional social events for parents outside of school.#1: Sharon Mergler
VCPC Board Member Attend Virginia Cooperative Preschool Council’s monthly meetings, serve on VCPC Board, and report back to the parents, Board and teachers with pertinent information.#1: Joslyn Osten
