Class Offerings
The adult/child ratio of all classes meets or exceeds the guidelines established by the Virginia Department of Education, Office of Childcare Health and Safety and by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
2-year-old Classes
There is space available for 8 children in each of the 2-year-old classes. One class meets three days per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The other class meets two days per week on Thursdays and Fridays. Each class has one teacher, and for the first 8 weeks of school, there are two parents in the classroom with the 2-year-olds. After 8 weeks, as the children are familiar with the daily routine, only one parent is needed each day. Children in the 2-year-old classes do not need to be out of diapers.
3-year-old Classes
There is space available for 12 children in each of the two classes. Once class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The other meets Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each class has one teacher, and for the first 8 weeks of school, there are two parents in the classroom with the 3-year-olds. After 8 weeks, as the children are familiar with the daily routine, only one parent is needed each day. Independent toileting is encouraged, but not required in the 3-year-old classes.
Pre-K Classes
There are two Pre-K classes at Annandale Co-op: a 12-student class that meets four days a week (Monday through Thursday) and a 16-student class that meets five days per week (Monday through Friday). There is generally one teacher and one parent in each of the classes. For the first couple of weeks of school and extra parent cooper helps out as everyone gets settled.
